i just got back from my election training. the DNC is posting lawyers at every precinct in this state to defend voters against election challenges on the spot and, if necessary, run to court to enjoin illegal vote suppression tactics. as i mentioned in an earlier post, i have volunteered to be one of those lawyers.
the training should have put me at ease, but really it did the opposite. our whole country seems to be heading in slow motion into something next tuesday. whether it turns out to be a massive collision or just a false alarm has still yet to be seen. i really hope none of this is necessary and specifically that nothing happens at my polling place. but i will be ready if it does.
