first, some maintenance issues. this past election has caused some people to reassess whether they want to continue blogging. i am not one of them. but both leading up to the election and after, a couple of my coalition partners have decided to call it quits. at least for now, maybe even they don't know whether their hiatus will last. since we really are a coalition of the willing, i'm shuffling them to a new catagory on my blogroll: the TLC hiatus list (yes, i realize the definite article is redundant, it's like "VAT tax" or "DC comics." there needs to be a word for that kind of thing). there are a few other TLC members who have not posted for a little while, but i'm only shifting them to the hiatus list if they are inactive for more than month.
speaking of TLC, it is almost exactly one year since we formed. in fact, i think the anniversary is around this week. one of our founding members was tena, who did not have her own site at the time, but was still a member. (she did occasionally fill in for atrios) and now tena's gone and joined up with first draft which is now listed on my TLC blogroll. welcome to the club, tena! you were actually here all along.
while i'm fucking with the blogroll, i thought i would make some other (non-TLC) changes. i'm deleting Blogs for Bush Rebutted, because, well, it never quite took off and has basically sat there doing nothing for a while. the site still exists, there is no consensus to get rid of it. ditto for blogging the stans. even though both could come back, they are both just cluttering my blogroll at this point and given how hot the real estate is there, i'm cutting the links.
i assumed i would drop the the electoral vote predictor by now, but the votemaster occasionally posts original stuff now and then. though i realize the election is unofficially over, officially the fat lady has not sung. so it stays
not so for counterspin (blogger etiquette question: am i supposed to create a link when i mention a fellow blogger if that link no longer works?). hesiod tried to get away several months ago, but they sucked him/her back in. still, hesiod announced his/her retirement as of the election and seems to have stuck with the promise. so that link is out.
meanwhile, i've decided to keep salam pax and billmon even though both have been on hiatus for a little while (billmon briefly returned, but then quickly reverted to hiatusness). salam has been hiatused for quite a while, well over the one month TCP threshold. but who cares, i make up the rules here. he stays because i don't want to miss him when he comes back. this is my site, after all.
but i'm not just ditching sites! i've added Abu Aardvark and the Daily Kos. generally i add a site if i find myself returning there a few times. to be honest i think i kept kos off the blogroll longer than it deserved because i didn't want my blogroll to fall into the usual liberal blogroll trap. but i have gotten pretty sick of typing the url out and lazyness trumps whatever point i was trying to make.
i think that's all the blogroll updates. in other news, i got this hit spike today. apparently atrios has quietly added me to his blogroll. i am really flattered. i met atrios at drinking liberally and was having a nice weekly conversation with him and his wife for a while. i never mentioned that i had a site to him, but i guess he noticed somehow on his own.
i am also amazed by how one little link hidden in his voluminous blogroll, without mention in the text of any of his posts, can have a noticeable impact on my hits.
thus endeth the meta-blog
