finally!

some good news on the judicial front:

Charles Pickering Sr., whose bruising battle for a seat on a federal appeals court abruptly ended when President Bush elevated him without Congressional approval, is stepping down.

we might as well enjoy this. it will probably be the only good news about the judiciary for a while.
