since reality tv shows can be about about anything and are currently the big thing in the entertainment world, why not use them to help fund cash-strapped government services? some network should produce a show called "Head Start" or "Hospice Care" or "VA Psych" or "Nursing Home" and let the hosting agency share in the show's profits. we'll all be on the edge of our seats each week betting which kid will have the best 7th grade clarinet recital, or whatever. with enough clever editing and ominous music, anything can be dramatic.
it's better than riverboat gambling: it's not a sin, and yet it could be a quick fix to solve virtually any public financial woe!
(n.b. idea semi-stolen from a conversation with a co-worker today after she mentioned a german nursing home reality show)
