today was one of those crack 'o dawn days. i had to be at a hearing on long island, ny by 9:30 a.m. so i woke up in the wee hours of the morning, traveled three-and-a-half hours to the hearing, settled the case in the hallway before the hearing could start, then did the trip in reverse. total travel time: approximately 7 hours. total work time: approximately 25 minutes. i was back in the office by 2:15, but i'm totally worn out.
meanwhile i got free tickets to transamerica tonight. the director is doing a Q and A after the show. there are a bunch of good reasons why i should just bow out and not go: i'm exhausted, it's my mother's birthday and i really should call her, this is the only night this week i can actually have dinner with my wife, and there's a pretty good chance i will see the same movie on saturday at my other advance screening film series. i keep looking at the facts and deciding not to go. but part of me just can't give up on the idea of free tickets. am i a cheapskate or what?
