what was the point of bush's trip to pakistan this week? was he trying to tell the pakistanis that we simply favor the indians now? or that nuclear nonproliferation is a principle that the u.s. only subscribes to when it comes to the muslim world? did he show up just to rub musharrif's nose in these new political realities?
before the trip, the story seemed to be that bush was visiting as a gesture of support for the pakistani government. but all his visit did was give pakistanis even more reason to hate the already unstable regime's close ties with the bush administration. i wonder if musharrif will ever invite him back.
so why did he go to islamabad? am i missing some critical insight here or was the trip to pakistan yet another ridiculously bad move by a president who seems to be taking up political blunders as his hobby?
