not all crazy?

i've already said that the u.s. should engage in direct talks with iran. actually, i think it's a no-brainer; i can't imagine why you would rule them out categorically unless you're a crazy war-monger. so it's comforting to see that the bush administration isn't 100% crazy.

some people in the administration seem to be advocating for direct talks. according to the article, condoleeza rice might or might not be one of them. but the article makes one thing clear:
Administration officials said President Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney and Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld have opposed direct talks, even through informal back channels. As a result, many European officials say they doubt that a decision to talk is likely soon.
so while the entire administration may not be crazy war-mongers, the top people still are.

oh well. i figured the headline was too good to be true
