it's official

bush's north korea policy is a complete failure.

for the past four years north korea has been working towards nuclear weapons. the sum total of the bush administration's plan to oppose a nuclear north korea has been:

1. refusing to negotiate with the north koreans because they wanted to talk directly with the u.s. the bush administration only wanted to talk if the other members of the "six party talk" group (china, japan, russia and south korea) were in the room.

2. making a bunch of vague threats of "dire consequences" if they went nuclear, threats that the north koreans were obviously ignoring.

3. blaming clinton

surprisingly, this cunning strategy didn't work. oh well, how dangerous could a weak cash-strapped regime that has demonstrated a willingness to sell weapons to anybody and now holding a confirmed arsenal of nuclear weapons be?
