so at drinking liberally last night i mentioned my recent trip to canada.
"i didn't realize canada was war-torn", said sally, referring to my tendency to visit out-of-the-way countries.
"i don't go to countries that are at war", i replied. "syria, uzbekistan, mali, latvia... none of them are at war. lebanon was between wars when i was there."
after thinking for a minute, i added, "the only country at war i've ever been to is the united states."
