i'm not convinced that this will actually happen. cheney isn't as all-powerful as he once was within the administration. but even these days, what cheney wants cheney usually gets, no matter how stupid or discredited an idea it is.
but for the sake of argument, let's say it does happen: the bush administration closes guantanamo and the detainees are transferred to states-side military prisons. what will that mean for mr. double-gitmo? does he run on the issue of reopening guantanamo? or maybe he'll be satisfied on just detaining more people here in the u.s?
or maybe he just won't comment on it. like he never said it at all. and everyone will pretend that the "double gitmo" thing never happened. instead, we'll focus on more pressing issues, like his manly smell.
