the king of nastygrams

what really strikes me about john king's lashing out at glenn greenwald is just how unprofessional his email comes across. king's email seems to be an attempt to snap greenwald's knuckles, suggesting that he just doesn't know how real journalist work and thus is unworthy of criticizing him. and yet, the email is little more than a nastygram. once you take out all the put-downs, there isn't all that much left. certainly nothing resembling a substantive response to greenwald's criticisms.

and of all the bloggers to criticize for not being a real journalist, greenwald is a particularly odd choice. first, greenwald, like most bloggers, doesn't pretend to be a journalist, he is a commentator, more like a columnist than a reporter. but even putting that aside, unlike most bloggers, greenwald writes for a real publication. his site is part of the online magazine salon. lashing out at him as being part of the unwashed masses with no real creditials to his name is belied by the fact that greenwald is one of the few bloggers with actual credentials.

and since i don't even have those, i might add that the email also just makes king look like a major-league asshole. but what do i know? i'm just a speck in the unwashed mass.
