i've been trying to figure out what this tentative power-sharing deal entails, but haven't been able to find the details anywhere. maybe they're not publicly released yet.
all the sources i have found describe it as some kind of power-sharing arrangement, except that kabaki and odinga already agreed to a powersharing arrangement in 2002 (the so-called "memorandum of agreement"). kabaki broke the agreement, thus igniting the rivalry that led to the last contentious election. that's why odinga has been insisting that any power-sharing deal be temporary, leading to a rerun election.
but the news reports about the current break through talk about power-sharing, but not new elections. does that mean that odinga caved? or did he get something else that hasn't been reported?
