surprise! a newly declassified memo shows that the bush administration thought the president is above the law. okay, so we knew the memo existed before. but this just confirms what has widely been reported to be true for a few years now. essentially the president does not believe in the idea of limited government, separation of powers, or that the president is bound by any rules at all. it is, perhaps, the most radically unamerican view of american government you can have.
on that note, i highly recommend listening to this week's episode of this american life: "the audacity of government." i think the MP3 is only available online this week, so download it now even if you won't get around to listening to it later.
