hey, it's the philadelphia film festival! i got a late start, the fest started two days ago and i still haven't seen anything in the program. i just came out of the life before her eyes through a totally unrelated film thing, talk cinema. now that i'm out of that film, i got time to kill before my first actual festival film. so i thought i would go to this local cafe with internet access and review it.
except that i really can't review "the life before her eyes" without ruining it. i can't talk about why i liked it except to say that i did. apparently the previews make it seem like a sappy coming of age film, but it really isn't. instead, it's actually quite intense, i just won't tell you why. i will say that there's water, and cougars, and blood stains, and that both the melodrama and anachronisms, in retrospect, are there for good reason.
so don't read anything about the film. i don't know how you could without screwing everything up. just see it, and then tell me so that we can finally talk about it.
