mccain's words

i haven't been posting presidential campaign commercials here, but i'm posting this one.

why? two reasons: one is that the right's objections to this ad--that mccain's words are taken "out of context" and that mccain didn't mean 100 years of war--are so stupid. even if he is elected president, mccain doesn't get to decide whether 100 years in iraq will be 100 peaceful years (à la the military presence in japan or germany) or whether violence along the lines of the first five years will continue. what he would get to decide is whether the forces will stay or go. i think it's rather clear that he is committed to staying no matter how bad the violence is. that is his official position, after all. which is why the 100 year comment is so damning and is why the right is so afraid of this kind of commercial given the public is solidly against staying in iraq.

the second reason i'm posting it is because i predicted this ad's existence months ago. i just can't resist an i-told-you-so post.
