i simp[ly don't understand why the bush administration never seems to have a plan B. it was like that with iraq. they told themselves it would go smoothly, it didn't, and they seemed to be completely unprepared for that. and now it's happening with the boumediene ruling.
the supreme court announced it would rule on the case a year ago, absent something unusual happening, the decision was going to come out before the end of june of this year (when the 2007 term ends). given the makeup of the court and the justices' past decisions on the various gitmo cases, the result from yesterday's decision was entirely predictable. i understand that the administration probably believed it's position in the case was correct. but it's simply foolish not to at least consider what to do if the court rules the other way.
