snatching the eleven year old son of a suspect isn't "holding a detainee" it's "taking a hostage." the siddiqui case was already bad enough before this came out.
the fact that the hostage is an american citizen normally would raise the question whether all of us are in danger of being seized by the u.s. military and turned over to a human-rights abusing regime to be used as a bargaining chip. if the u.s. government can do that to one citizen, why can't it do that to any of them? except in reality we all know that most of us aren't really in any danger of that happening to us. most of our names don't look like "siddiqui."
