why hasn't anyone else noticed that line?

the most interesting part of karen handel's resignation letter is the second to last sentence: "While I appreciate your raising a possible severance package, I respectfully decline."

severance payments are always in exchange for something, usually that something is a release and a covenant not to sue, sometimes it also includes a confidentiality agreement. by not accepting any payoff on her way out the door, handel may be1 free to sue komen and blab about what happened there to her heart's content. the self-serving letter could just be the beginning.

1-i say "may be" because i have no idea what other agreements handel might have already had with the organization. komen could have gotten her to agree to keep her trap shut before she even got the job.
