people are getting all excited because the AZ secretary of state is saying that he has doubts about whether the president was born in the U.S. and so he says it's "possible" that obama won't appear on the AZ ballot. and yet, it's pretty obvious that will never happen. the president will appear on the AZ ballot, just as he will appear on every state's ballot in november. as david weigel says this is nothing but birtherism being used as rube bait.
i understand why politicians try to toss red meat to their low-information-but-angry voters. i don't understand why the political bloggers bother to play along. this stuff wouldn't work without their help. and does anyone seriously believe that a sitting president is going to be disqualified from any ballots?
