while reading about rodney king's death, it occurs to me that although i remember the riots quite well (i was in college when they happened and was already a news junky), i knew almost nothing about mr. king himself. he was just that dude on the video who got the shit beaten out of him and then became the catalyst for a larger story.
did the coverage in the early 90s ignore his individual story, or was i the one ignoring him? or maybe i just forgot something i once knew.
