this has been a logical problem for american conservatism since at least 9/11. for the past decade or so, conservatism has required unqualified support for everything israel does. but like ever other developed country in the world, israel has universal health coverage guaranteed by law, something american conservatives are suddenly strongly against.
so how do you praise a country's health care system that includes an individual mandate, when your party now thinks an individual mandate is a gross infringement on basic civil rights? maybe a masterful politician could thread that needle. mittens is not a masterful politician.
