so if romney really paid federal income taxes each year, then that just means we need to cue up the next theory about why he is so reluctant to release his tax records.
my current favorite theory is that he took advantage of the 2009 swiss bank account amnesty. it's either that or he claimed a charitable deduction for a contribution to planned parenthood. (we already know that ann romney donated to the group in 1994). either, if shown to be true, would be pretty toxic to the romney campaign right now. i can't think of anything else that is likely to be in the tax returns that would be worth taking this many hits just to keep it hidden.
