why is israel so freaked out about the palestinian authority being granted "nonmember observer status" in the UN general assembly? especially considering that they are almost sure to lose this vote. why make wild threats like canceling the oslo accords and ousting abbas (both moves that many palestinians might welcome, but they are not exactly to the israelis' advantage) over this?
