it's official, the newtown shooting has made a difference with regard to gun legislation in this country.
sure, it's only one state, but the issue is more about proof. it's often hard to show a clear cause and effect between something that happens and the fate of legislation. this case is fairly clear. as of last week, governor snyder was going to sign that bill. then the shooting happened and he said he needed to give it "extra consideration." and now he's going to veto it. that's about as clear as it can get.
(however, it could also be related to governor snyder's collapsing approval ratings. these things are never 100% clear)
