i've mentioned this before, but it is fascinating to watch international news disappear from american political blogs. check it out. a week ago, france sent its military into mali to topple a de facto jihadist government. then just a few days ago, the militants retaliated by seizing an algerian oil installation and taking a bunch of western hostages, including americans. that stand-off is still going on. while these events have certainly been discussed in political blogs, there's nary a mention on memeorandum, a site that automatically creates links to the hot topics in blogistan.
if you think back to 2004 or 2005, things were really quite different. anything that could be viewed as part of the war on terra would be hawked mercilessly by the keyboard kommandos. in that context, today's silence is really deafening.
does this mean that world war four is finally over?
