Disinvited

I realize that Iran had to be disinvited in order for the conference to happen (if they hadn't, much of the Syrian opposition would not have shown up), but it is a bit absurd to have the U.S. but not Iran in the room. Iran has as much, if not more, of its interests at stake in the Syrian civil war than the U.S.

The subtext at disinviting Iran is that the people in charge of the conference don't care about Iran's interest. Which I guess is their prerogative. But it destroys any pretense that the talks are a neutral ground for all sides to air their issues.
