I really wonder if people like Judy Miller fully understand what they did. The run up to the Iraq War wasn't just "oops, we got a story wrong." Tens of thousands of people, if not hundreds of thousands, died because the U.S. launched that war. Right now there are people whose family was killed, or who grew up without parents, or who were endured injuries from which they will never fully recover, etc., all because the likes of Ms. Miller helped the Bush administration lie itself into a senseless war. To say that holding the people who helped bring about so much slaughter is "not helpful" is monstrous in and of itself.
Maybe Judy Miller really did believe the bullshit that Ahmad Chalabi was feeding her back in 2002 and 2003. But once she realized that she was used to push a lie that led to so much bloodshed, she should at least acknowledge just how much of a human tragedy she helped to bring about. If she had any conscience at all, why isn't she consumed with guilt over her part in causing such a calamity to so many people? Either Miller is a horrible human being or she is in complete denial about her own contribution to so much death and destruction.
I guess she could be both.
