Where Jefferson Station Should Be

Actually, the SEPTA regional rail station that should be renamed is Suburban Station. Its name makes it sound like it is on the suburbs, but in fact it's in the middle of center city. The name comes from that fact that it is a station that city people might take if they were going to the suburbs. (But that is also the case for most other Philly station in the regional rail system)

I think native Philadelphians don't realize how confusing that can be for people who aren't from here. In every other public transit system, stations are named for where they are, not for where they are going. If you want to sell the naming rights to a station, sell the rights to Suburban Station. "Market East" is at least descriptive of where the station is.
