The U.S. and Iran have been on the same side of many issues since September 11th, particularly in Iraq and Afghanistan. It's just because of the ongoing campaign (enthusiastically driven by the Saudis and Israelis) to cast Iran as a nefarious villain that this isn't so obvious that a "strange bedfellows" article isn't necessary.
