I'm not a fan of the paranoid view of the world that is pushed in Putin's Russia, but it's really hard to argue that this view of America by Vladimir Lukin isn't at least partially correct:
America has a simple ideology – that there is only one truth in the world, that truth is held by God, and God created the United States to be an embodiment of that truth. So the Americans strive to bring this truth to the rest of the world and to make it happy. How else can you explain the phenomenon of "American exceptionalism" and the bizarre charge made in every presidential campaign that some candidate does not use those words enough to be qualified for the office?
