It is interesting just how little attention ISIS's battlefield losses are getting. For the past six months, the group has been losing territory in NE Syria and in Western Iraq to the Kurds, and bit-by-bit they are losing control of Ramadi to the Iraqi National Army and/or Shia Militias.
As much as ISIS has become the Hitler of the moment, the Western press is not really crowing whenever the group loses territory. It also creates a distorted impression in the Western press. So the President can be mocked for saying that ISIS is losing ground (despite the fact that the group is literally losing ground) just because some distant supporters take advantage of lax American gun laws to kill a bunch of defenseless people.
