if the TPP survives its purpose will completely flip

It will be really interesting to see how it plays out if other countries move ahead with the TPP after the U.S.'s withdrawal. The agreement was originally designed to gain an advantage over China by excluding them from the trade deal that would set the trade rules for the entire Pacific. But with Australia now floating the idea of inviting China to join the TPP club, it might end up being a way for China to dominate the new trading regime to the exclusion of the U.S.

I was never a big fan of the TPP and Trump's rejection of the treaty might be the only thing he ever does that I am not completely against. But I have a hard time seeing how this advances Trump's goal of taking on China or putting America first.
