President Trump really isn't President, and even Senate Republicans know it

The most interesting thing from Trump's gun violence shitshow yesterday is not the fact that he advocated taking guns away from people without due process (what the president says about policy bears no relation to what his administration does). What I find most interesting is this reaction:
“We’re not ditching any constitutional protections simply because the last person the president talked to today doesn’t like them,” Senator Ben Sasse, Republican of Nebraska, said in a statement.
Even Republican Senators know that the president is a moron who knows nothing about policy and will adopt the position of whoever he talked to last.

(I know Sasse is one of those Flake-like Senators, who criticizes Trump but then ends up voting in Trump's favor the vast majority of the time. You'd think if he has such serious reservations about the guy he could cast a single "no" vote for one his appointees).
