My family and I were in Iceland 2 years ago when the white supremacist march and murder happened in Charlottesville. I remember watching the news from afar and thinking it seemed like some real change was happening in public opinion back home, at least in terms of mainstream toleration of white supremacism in the Trump era.
In retrospect, whatever change did happen, did not seem to last. But I'm feeling the same thing now as I read the news from home as I sit here in Almaty. I really hope it lasts this time.
