Just how delusional do you have to be to be Mike Pence and think you have any shot at all at the Presidency, much less the GOP nomination?
The odd thing is that, unlike 99.99% of all Americans, Mike Pence had a really solid chance to be President at one time. On January 7, 2021, he could have invoked the 25th Amendment and removed Trump from office with just a majority of the cabinet's support, and become Acting President under Section 4 of the Amendment. Sure, the decision has to be ratified within 21 days by a 2/3 majority in both houses of Congress to stick and there probably weren't the votes to uphold the removal of Trump. But on January 7, 2021, there were only 13 days left in Trump's term. Pence could have run out the clock and presided over a peaceful transition to Biden.
Thirteen days as Acting President of the United States is not much, but it is abundantly clear that 13 days more than he will ever get the chance to have now. At least it is clear to all the people who are not as delusional as Mike Pence.
