The Union League of Philadelphia is an old Philly institution, and an organization strongly aligned with the Republican establishment. The organization was originally formed in 1862 to support President Lincoln and to promote his policies, such as abolitionism, the justness of the Civil War, and the horrors of slavery in the South.
So it is pretty ironic that the League is honoring Ron DeSantis, whose administration would prevent the teaching about the policies that the Union League was founded to promote.
