i ended up doing the lawyer pollwatch thing for almost 11 hours in 8 different polling places. i saw a few problems--there are at least 4 people who got to vote who would not otherwise been able to (3 with real ballots, 1 with a provisional one)--but no major efforts to suppress votes as we feared. i got a lot out of the experience, but it was a long draining day. and because i had to wake up early to get oriented before the polls opened, i went into the day a little sleep-deprived.
then came the election returns. another late night, and then i had a hearing early this morning. i spent most of the day living on caffeine, pushing election returns out of my head to focus on my case. i didn't hear that kerry conceded until several hours after it happened. now i'm home and the last 48 hours is catching up to me. i don't know what to say about the election. probably i will be in a position to be more coherent later.
that is, as coherent as things ever are around here.
