the liberal avenger is asking for donations of laptop computers to send to educators in thailand. a lot of stuff we consider outdated junk here can be really go a long way in the developing world. one problem with these donation schemes is you can't always be sure your donation will really go to the people in need and won't end up paying for administrative costs (or, in the case of a computer, sitting on the charitable foundation administrator's desk).
LA is different. he will send the laptop directly to educators that he has personal contacts with in thailand. (LA's wife is thai and he often travels back and forth between the u.s. and thailand). if you have an old laptop that you're thinking of throwing out, drop him an email at avenger @ liberalavenger.com (eliminate the spaces when you send the message) to see if he can get it to someone who will put it to good use.
