bush declassified the "key judgments" section of the april 2006 national intelligence estimate on global terrorism. the declassified document is here (pdf) the bit that was declassified is just a summary, not the full report.
on top of that, bush is still refusing to declassify the NIE that deals exclusively with the effect of iraq on the war on terror. i believe that was the NIE that the new york times leaked over the weekend and which started the recent calls to declassify, which led to today's declassification. it seems to me like the decision to declassify the global terrorism summary, and not the iraq-specific report, was an attempt to bury the more embarrassing document.
will it work? i guess we'll have to wait and see.
