it's getting a little tiresome to watch iraq war supporters propose a bold new plan that isn't even a viable option. the long and short of mccain's proposal is to send an additional 100,000 soldiers, just as american generals are saying that the u.s. military does not have the capability of fielding another 100,000 troops in iraq.
at the end of his post glenn concludes:
John McCain's insistence that we're going to win in Iraq because the additional troops that we need to win are going to magically and spontaneously appear in a sudden outpouring of patriotic courage is a disgusting joke...then it hit me. maybe that is the plan. earlier this week another senator who supports the war, rick santorum, made some waves after he compared the iraq war to the lord of the rings. maybe that's what mccain was talking about. maybe he really does want to produce more troops through magic. maybe mr. straight-talk express wants us to make a mighty army of orcs.
once we send in those 100,000 orcs, iraq is sure to become a peaceful democratic paradise!
