i just watched the video of bush's address from this afternoon. it's really amazing. the guy acts as if a (shudder) congressional subpoena is some kind of radical break from the hallowed traditions of this country. imagine, congress issuing a subpoena! those crazed congressmen, what kind of wild stuff will they come up with next?
when one questioner mentioned that prior admistrations permitted their staff to testify under oath his answer was utterly incoherent. and as usual whenever he was asked any question that he couldn't really answer, all he did was repeat a canned line like "partisan witchhunt" while doing that forwards and backwards movement of his head that he does when he gets frustrated. you know that head movement thing, the one that makes him look like a chicken.
the bottom line is that bush is standing behind gonzo (i told you gonzales wouldn't resign), and threatened to "go to the mat" to avoid a making a precedent that has already been made.
