it seems that the iranian ministry of foreign affairs has unofficially suspended issuing tourist visas to americans. at least that's what my contact in tehran now tells me. which explains why my application has been pending since march without any movement at all.
my unofficial deadline for deciding what to do about my travel plans was the end of this month. i guess there's still another week. but right now, my trip to iran is looking less and less likely.
