the bush administration will announce that james k. glassman will replace karen hughes as the u.s.' official turd shiner, err, i mean, undersecretary of state for public diplomacy and public affairs. the bush administration has claimed that they would use the post to try to improve america's image in the muslim world. but once again they are appointing someone with no experience in the middle east or any muslim country. in fact, the thing that glassman is most known for is his wild-eyed optimism which later proved to be completely wrong.
just the guy we need to improve the u.s.' image abroad!
but at least this does answer my question. this proves that president bush does see the position as a real job. or, at least, the president has shown that it's more than just a place to put his friend karen hughes. it's also a place to put conservative business columnists. think of it as a federal job program for not so down-and-out conservatives. does it make sense as anything else? maybe glassman will travel the world talking up everyone else's local stock market.
