i don't see any way of looking at israel's policy re: gaza as anything but an utter failure.
blockading the territory and making periodic military incursions there hasn't stopped the rocket fire at all. but it has imposed needless suffering on the people of gaza and generated worldwide sympathy as images of thousands of gazans flooding into egypt to buy food and medicine will do. plus it's gotten the egyptians to stop policing its border with gaza. at least for now, hamas has effectively beaten israel's seige.
