china campaigned furiously to get the olympics held in beijing. it seemed to be a real matter of pride for them, giving them a chance to show the world the new modern china.
but instead the olympics seems to have brought a lot of stories about how polluted china is. and if next august we see pictures of athletes wandering the city in breathing masks, it's not gonna do much to improve the country's image.
