months after the bush administration said it would work to set up a framework for holding military contractor's accountable, they're proposing to exempt contractors from any sort of accountability.
in theory the proposal would have to be approved by the iraqi government and ratified by its parliament. but there's no way in hell that the current parliament would ever approve such a thing. indeed, the parliament has made it clear that they want u.s. troops out now. so i expect the bush administration will do what it did last year, cut a deal with malicki and ignore the fact that the deal is illegal under iraqi law.
when you already have an illegal war, who cares if you have an illegal extension? even if it's illegal under the very same constitution that you helped write.
UPDATE: the proposed defense arrangement with iraq would be unconstitutional under u.s. law as well, unless it is ratified by congress.
