wack-a-mole

as egypt begins to close the breached portion of it's border with gaza, new sections are being breached elsewhere.

which puts egypt on the spot. the only way to shut gaza tight again would be to come down hard on the people crossing. but that would undermine the egyptian government's rhetoric that it is on the palestinian people's side. meanwhile, egypt is facing pressure from israel and the u.s. to close it's border again. israeli pressure is easy for egypt to resist, but there's just too much foreign aid behind the americans' words. which is why egypt will find some way, in the end, to do what washington wants.
