it really annoys me when people spell israel "isreal". i'm not sure why it bothers me so, i certainly spell a whole bunch of words wrong. generally, misspellings don't bother me at all.
i think the difference with "isreal" is that when i see that spelling imagine that the writer probably pronounces "israel" like "iz-ree-ul." which is also wrong, but quite common too. at least it is around here. i'm not sure why the pronunciation i imagine would make me dislike "isreal" more than any other common misspelling.
