Away

It's really hard to tell but there are hints that at least some of the perpetrators of the Westgate Mall attack in Nairobi might have gotten away. As terrible as these kinds of massacres usually are, the people who carry out the attack almost always end up captured or killed--think of the 2008 Mumbai attack, the Amenas hostage incident earlier this year, or even the Boston Marathon bombing.

But since the Westgate Mall siege ended we haven't had the usual announcement identifying each of the attackers with a statement of which ones died or are in custody. There are even reports that some might have brought changes of clothes with them so they could slip out with fleeing civilians.

And now there is this. A few days ago, there were reports that one of the attackers was a white woman, who some thought would have been Samantha Lewthwaite. Now with Kenya requesting this Interpol Alert, that means they believe she was in on the attack but they don't have her in custody or have they found her body.

Which is totally crazy. The entire mall was surrounded by security forces for three straight days. How did anyone leaving get through, even if they were posing as a victim?
