This is on Corbett

I'm glad that this tragedy might finally call Governor Corbett into account for his destruction of the Philadelphia schools.

Ordinarily, I would not think it fair to criticize a Governor for the economic woes of a local school district. But the Philly School District is different. The State took over the District in 2001. Philadelphia residents have almost no say in the governance of their school system and, unlike every other district in the state, the District is largely dependent on State financing. Governor Corbett, whose support lies almost entirely outside the City, imposed draconian cuts on Philadelphia schools, essentially destroying the opportunity for education for most city kids who can't afford to go to private school. Governor Corbett is still withholding $45 million in federal dollars from the grossly underfunded school district as a bargaining chip to extract concessions from the teacher's union.

So I think it's completely fair to blame the Governor for the death of a twelve year old girl because his budget meant that there was no nurse at her school. What a fucking asshole. November 2014 can't come soon enough.
